Bestselling
author Jody Hedlund’s Out of the Storm is her first ever novella and introduces
readers to Beacons of Hope, a new series set in the 1800s amid the romance,
history and danger surrounding the Great Lakes lighthouses of Michigan.
My review:
This is a great historical
romance novella!
I loved the
characters in this short novella. Because of the length of the story there wasn’t
time to do a really deep development for any of them except for Isabelle. There
is just enough about her father and Henry so that they were very realistic and
their relationships to Isabelle were believable.
I thoroughly
enjoyed the setting of the lighthouse on the lake. I had never given much
thought to what a light keeper might have to face in the aftermath of a storm.
The beginning of this story made that reality come alive for me.
