About the book:

In England’s Regency era, manners and elegance reign in public life - but behind closed doors treason and deception thrive. Nicholas Langdon is no stranger to reserved civility or bloody barbarity. After suffering a battlefield injury, the wealthy, well-connected British office return home to heal - and to fulfill a dyping soldier’s last wish by delivering his coded diary.

At the home of the Wilherns, one of England’s most powerful families, Langdon attends a lavish ball where he meets their beautiful and intelligent ward, Julia Grey. Determined to maintain propriety, he keeps his distance - until the diary is stolen and all clues lead to Julia’s guardian. As Landgon traces an evil plot that could be the nation’s undoing, he grows ever more intrigued by the lovely young woman. And when Julia realized that England - and the man she is falling in love with - need her help, she finds herself caught in the fray. Will the two succumb to their attraction while fighting to save their country?

My review:

I was completely caught up in this wonderful historical romance.

I love both of the main characters in this story. They are both committed to doing the right thing. At times though Miss Julia Grey is a little uncertain as to where her loyalty should be placed. I enjoyed seeing how she worked out this question.

The plot of the story is great. I was very interested in seeing how Mr. Nicholas Langdon went about tracking down the evidence that the War Department asked him to get.

The narrator did an amazing job? She was marvelous at altering her voice. Many times I felt very much like there could have been a whole cast of people reading the parts. She was also great at making me feel what the characters were feeling.
