Plain Refuge (Amish Country Justice #8) by Dana R. Lynn

Title: Plain Refuge (Amish Country Justice #8)
Author: Dana R. Lynn

Pages: 224

Release Date: June 1, 2020

Genre: Romantic Suspense

Publisher: Harlequin Love Inspired Suspense

Format: Paperback (also available in eBook)

Note: I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. I was not required to write a positive review. All of the opinions expressed are my own.

About the book:

On the run from hired gunmen, can she find safety in Amish country?

After overhearing an illegal weapons deal, Sophie Larson knows two things: her uncle’s a dangerous criminal…and he wants her dead. Now undercover cop Aiden Forster has no choice but to blow his cover and protect Sophie by hiding her and her deaf sister in Amish country. But with a mole in the police force, danger isn’t far behind.

My review:

This is an amazing adrenaline rush romantic suspense novel!

I love all three of the main characters in this book. Aiden is a rock solid protector. Both Sophie and her younger sister Celine are strong and courageous even though they are filled with well placed fear. They have a number of secondary characters come along side them to help keep them safe.

I loved all of the details that the author gives about cochlear implants. I had heard the term but knew nothing about how they worked.

The plot of the story is fantastic. In the first few pages the reader is thrust into it. The danger then runs throughout the book with only brief moments to build the romantic connection while we all, reader and characters, catch our breath. Then near the end of the book there is a great surprise revelation.

I am giving this marvelous book a rating of 5 stars. I highly recommend it. Though it is part of a series it completely stands alone.

Fugitive Trail (K-9 Mountain Guardians #3) by Elizabeth Goddard

Title: Fugitive Trail (K-9 Mountain Guardians #3)
Author: Elizabeth Goddard
Pages: 224
Release Date: March 1, 2020
Genre: Romantic Suspense
Publisher: Harlequin Love Inspired Suspense
Format: Paperback (also available in eBook)
Note: I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. I was not required to write a positive review. All of the opinions expressed are my own.

About the book:

     A killer’s out for vengeance…

unless this K-9 sniffs him out first.

When a plane carrying dangerous convicts crashes in the Colorado Rockies, Deputy Sierra Young and her search-and-rescue K-9, Samson, race to help—and discover they’re after her! With one survivor vowing revenge, Sierra’s former coworker turned PI, Bryce Elliott, is determined to protect her. But can Bryce, Sierra and Samson track down the fugitive before he succeeds in taking their lives?

My review:

This is a wonderful romantic suspense novel!

I thoroughly enjoyed both of the main characters. It was great to see how they interacted with each other. They had a past relationship that left them uncertain how to proceed in the current situation.

The plot of the story is very intricate. The danger is palpable and kept me focused on the story. I was tied up emotionally with the safety of the characters, and that includes Samson, the search-and-rescue dog.

I was fascinated with the details about how Samson was trained and then commanded in different situations. I loved finding out that his official commands were given in German so that he wouldn’t be confused by regular conversations. I knew that some police dogs are commanded in German but I didn’t know the reason why.

I am giving this great book a rating of 5 stars. I highly recommend it.

Deadly Evidence (Mount Shasta Secrets #1) by Elizabeth Goddard

Title: Deadly Evidence (Mount Shasta Secrets #1)
Author: Elizabeth Goddard
Pages: 224
Year: 2019
Genre: Romantic Suspense
Publisher: Love Inspired Suspense
Format: eBook (also available in paperback)
Note: I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. I was not required to write a positive review. All of the opinions expressed are my own.

About the book:

A dangerous reunion they may not survive.

FBI agent Tori Peterson intends to find her sister’s murderer, even if someone’s willing to kill her to keep the truth hidden. But that means returning home and working with the lead detective—her ex-boyfriend, Ryan Bradley. Though sparks still fly between them, Tori and Ryan must stay focused on catching a killer. . .before they are silenced for good.

My review:

This is a fantastic romantic suspense novel!

I love the depth of the main characters in this story. Both Tori and Ryan have a lot of memories of their time together years ago. It makes it hard for them to know how to act around each other during the current dangerous period for them. It was fun to see how they tried to work together while not really working together.

The plot of this story had so many twists and turns that I was kept guessing right up to the end. The culprit was a complete surprise and I loved that.

I’m looking forward to reading the rest of this series.

I’m giving this wonderful book a rating of 5 stars. I highly recommend it.

Guarding the Amish Midwife (Amish Country Justice #6) by Dana R. Lynn

Title: Guarding the Amish Midwife (Amish Country Justice #6)
Author: Dana R. Lynn
Pages: 224
Release Date: June 1, 2019
Genre: Romantic Suspense
Publisher: Harlequin Love Inspired Suspense
Format: Paperback (also available in eBook)
Note: I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. I was not required to give a positive review. All of the opinions expressed are my own.

About the book:

     An Amish witness to murder.

Another riveting Amish Country Justice book.

On the way to deliver a baby, Amish midwife Lizzy Miller witnesses her driver’s murder—and now someone plans to silence her. Lizzy knows better than to trust strangers, but she must depend on former Amish turned Englisch police officer Isaac Yoder. And there’s nowhere safe to hide… unless Isaac reconnects with the Amish community he left behind to protect the woman he’s falling for.

My review:

This is an incredible romantic suspense novel!

I love the development of both of the main characters in this story. They have each had very difficult circumstances in their pasts that have shaped who they are. Lizzy was a victim in a very frightening attack a few years before this book opens. She still struggles with many fears because of it. Isaac lost his brother in a violent attack and made life changing choices as a result. The memory of that event still drives him. I was amazed at how strong Lizzy was in this new situation after what she had already been through.

The plot was fantastic! It kept me on the edge of my seat. I was totally invested in the outcome.

I talked to Isaac a lot during the second half of the book. He seemed a little dense to me and I knew what he needed to do long before he figured it out. He just didn’t want to listen to me. I get so frustrated with characters that don’t listen to me.

I am giving this wonderful book a rating of 5 stars. I highly recommend it.

Genre: Romantic Suspense

About the book:

A Refuge for His Family - An Amish Witness Protection story.

When criminal lawyer Tyler Everson witnesses his boss’s murder, he becomes the killer’s next target—along with his estranged wife, Annabelle, and their daughter. Now they must enter witness protection in Amish country. But reuniting with his family isn’t easy when Annabelle doesn’t trust him. Will going into hiding keep them safe. . .and bring the family back together for good?

My review:

This is an incredibly intense romantic suspense novel!

Both Tyler and Annabelle are fantastic! The author did an amazing job of developing each of them. Their backgrounds are slowly shared throughout the book making them more realistic. The fact that they have an adorable 5-year-old is just an extra draw for me.

The danger is thrown at them, and the reader, from the very beginning. It really helped to captivate my interest. I was emotionally invested from the get go. They are relentlessly pursued and they each have an emotional journey to go on even while they are trying to stay ahead of the bad guys after them. I enjoyed seeing how they grew and matured along the way. The fact that they were working on learning to trust God was a definite bonus.

I have to give this wonderful book a rating of 5 stars. I am highly recommending it.

About the book:

Desperate to find the abducted victim, his aunt, Cord must keep Kendall safe. . .while also caring for his recently orphaned nephew. Teaming up threatens to rekindle Cord and Kendall’s relationship, but first they must solve a life-threatening mystery.

My review:

This romantic suspense novel is an incredible adrenaline rush!

I loved this final visit to Trail’s End Ranch. It was great seeing what is going on with the main characters from the first 3 books now that their lives have settled down. I’m so happy that Kendall got her own story. She has been so helpful in the previous books. Now I know what happened that made her decide that she was going to remain single.

It was also wonderful getting to know Cord and his nephew Lucas. They are dealing with so much pain and heartache. They were definitely in need of the loving McKade family coming around them to help them deal with things.

The journeys that Kendall, Cord, and Lucas have to take to learn to let go of things and trust God were fantastic. I was able to learn some things along with them.

The plot of the mystery was thrilling. It kept me guessing throughout the book. I had to take a few breaks to calm down because I was so caught up in it.

This fantastic book is getting a 5 star rating from me. I am highly recommending it.

About the book:

     Perilous reunion at sea.

When shipwreck archaeologist Cora Strand is attacked and the research boat she’s on explodes, her ex comes to her rescue. Years ago, Kirk Higgins forfeited her heart, and now with no memory of who attacked her, Cora must trust him with her life. But at the risk of blowing his cover, can the NCIS agent stop a killer determined to put them both in a watery grave?

My review:

This is a thrilling romantic suspense novel!

I love both of the main characters! Kirk and Cora have come back into each others’ lives while they each carry baggage from how things ended before. They both have deep insecurities that they need to work through. I enjoyed reading their journeys and found it encouraging that they were both praying for God’s help.

The plot was filled with plenty of twists and heart-pounding action. There were a lot of secondary characters. One of the things that kept me guessing along with Kirk and Cora was the question of who were the good guys and who weren’t

I loved this story and am giving it a rating of 5 stars and highly recommending it.

Note: I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. I have chosen to write this review to express my personal opinion.

About the book:

Cowboy lawmen make the best protectors.

     A McKade Law novel.

Fleeing from her dangerous ex-boyfriend, on-the-run single mother Nicole Dyer takes refuge in a cabin—and is discovered by the ranch owner, Deputy Matt McKade. It’s easy to fall for the handsome lawman and his kind family, but staying at the ranch endangers them all. When everything Nicole loves comes under direct fire, can Matt keep her—and her heart—safe?

My review:

This is an incredible adrenaline rush romantic suspense novel!

I loved this third visit to Lost Creek and the McKade family. The story stands alone but we get an update on the main characters from the previous books in the series.

In this wonderful book Matt steps up and takes the lead trying to catch the man threatening Nicole Dyer. The characters are so well developed that I felt like I could just step into the main house at Trails End Dude Ranch for a visit with good friends.

The plot was fantastic! I was caught up in it from the very beginning. The danger had me holding my breath a number of times. I couldn’t wait for Nicole to finally be out of danger.

Both Matt and Nicole had definite emotional journeys to go on before the end of the book. The need to grow in their trust of God was a huge part for each of them.

There is a delightful little girl thrown in. Her antics kept making me smile just as much as it did all of the McKades.

I am giving this wonderful book a rating of 5 stars. I’m highly recommending it.

Genre: Romantic Suspense
Publisher: Harlequin Love Inspired Suspense
Format: Paperback (also available in eBook)
Note: I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. I have chosen to write this review to express my personal opinion.

About the book:

He’s her undercover bodyguard— but she can’t know.

When someone tries to kill former government agent Jonna Strand, Ian Brady comes to her rescue. Now Ian must keep Jonna safe and catch the would-be killer—without revealing he was sent undercover to protect her. But when Jonna learns the truth, can she look past his secrets and lean on him to ensure they live through the storm-ridden night?

My review:

A fantastic heart-pounding romantic suspense novel!

Both Jonna and Ian are incredibly strong and courageous. They face danger at every turn. This book is packed with twists and turns so that means it is packed with danger. They each have a lot of baggage from their pasts. It is all related to their jobs and it makes it hard to go back to the dangerous situations that they are now having to face together. The biggest decision they have to deal with individually is whether they can trust each other or not.

I love the setting for most of this book. The lodge on the cliff in northwestern Washington and the winter storms that keep taking place are perfect for this story. It really adds to the feeling of danger and helped to get my heart racing.

This marvelous story is getting a 5 star rating from me. I am highly recommending it.
